Crime Writers of Color is thrilled to host the first-ever “Underrepresented Voices, Presented by Crime Writers of Color” reception on Friday, August 27 from 4:30 - 6 pm ET at Bouchercon in New Orleans. The free event will let Bouchercon attendees meet established and up-and-coming crime authors from traditionally marginalized communities. They’ll be able to hear readings, and mingle with a variety of authors—some of whom will be signing their work and giving out swag—while enjoying drinks and snacks. If you are a crime writer from a traditionally underrepresented community** who is attending Bouchercon 2021 and would like to sign up to be spotlighted at the event, please fill out the sign-up form by July 1, 2021. Someone from Crime Writers of Color will email you with more details. Please note that there are limited spots for readings.
**As noted by #DVPit, an underrepresented voice may include (but is not limited to): Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC); people living and/or born/raised in marginalized, underrepresented cultures and countries; disabled persons (includes neurodiversity and mental illness); people on marginalized ends of the cultural and/or religious spectrum; people identifying within LGBTQIA+; and more.
A panel including Jean Redmann, Greg Herren, John Copenhaver, and Robyn Gigl, hosted by Mystery Writers of America Midwest Chapter. Moderated by Anne Laughlin and Meredith Doench.
